After the Job interview

You did it. You landed and survived a job interview.  Yay you!

While you might be tempted to take a break, don’t. Now is the time for you to double your efforts. Here’s how:

• Conduct a post-interview analysis on the job interview. Reflect on how you handled yourself in the meeting and how the employer responded to you. Note what seemed to work and what didn’t. Make notes for future interviews, if necessary

• Snail mail or email a thoughtful thank-you note expressing your sincere thanks for the interview and consideration for the job. Use this thank you note to remind the employer just how talented you are and how great a fit you would be to the organization.

• If you haven’t heard back from the employer in a week or so, touch base for a status report.

• Don’t get all cocky and assume you will be offered the job because you interviewed well. Others could have interviewed well, too.

• Drive on looking for other jobs. Keep the momentum you’ve started going.

• If you are not offered the job, don’t be discouraged. Just keep trying.

• If you are offered the job, keep your eyes open for opportunities for other military spouses along the way.  It’s a tough world. We have to stick together.
