4 Fun Fall Activities

It’s finally fall!

While it doesn’t quite feel like fall yet here in the South, I’ve been pretty determined to enjoy each and every moment of the season. Even if it’s 85 degrees.

I’ve been making delicious fall treats, conquering a few fall decor projects for our house, and doing fall activities with friends.

Here are a few of my favorite activities, DIY fall decorations, and activities this year so far:

1. Pumpkin Spice Parfaits

The lovely ladies over at Tone It Up created this amazing recipe for Pumpkin Spice Parfaits, a healthy and seasonal twist on a breakfast parfait. While I was initially a bit skeptical at how they would turn out, after making the concoction, I was thoroughly impressed and my fiancé loved it, too! Who knew that coconut, pumpkin, and bananas could taste so good in the same recipe?

2. Pumpkin and Sunflower Picking

I have never lived in a place where you could pick sunflowers next to the patch where you pick pumpkins. When my friends and I found a farm that had both pumpkins and sunflowers, I thought I died and went to heaven. My excitement led me to leave the patch with an enormous armful of bright yellow flowers…and no pumpkin! Who forgets to pick a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch? Yep. That’s how excited I was.

3. Bonfires and Fall Snacks

Recently, the weather took a dip into the low 70s and sank into 40s at night, so what better way to celebrate the glimpse of fall weather than a bonfire with friends, s’mores, and mulled wine?

For s’mores, I started using Reece’s Pieces instead of simple Hershey’s chocolate. I love having peanut butter as a sweet little addition to the graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate.

I never had mulled wine before and had no idea what I was missing! My friends and I used this recipe, omitting the brandy. I immediately decided that I want to make it more—mulled wine is the perfect drink to bring to fall and winter gatherings or to have a steaming cup while curled up with a blanket and a good book.

4. DIY Fall Decor

Now that my fiance and I are living in our first house together, I find myself getting more into decorating. With fall fast approaching, I wanted to find some festive decorations and do a few DIY crafts without spending a ton of money.

For some added sparkle, I spray-painted wine and beer bottles gold and set them on a gold charger next to this white ceramic pumpkin dish! I also have candy corn hidden in that dish.

I found this bowl on sale at West Elm, and couldn’t wait to fill it. For fall-themed decorations, I went on a hike and collected pine cones, cleaned them, spray painted them gold, and put them in the bowl along with my favorite little white pumpkins! It’s a perfect decorative element to have on a coffee table with cheap and festive fillings.
