New Year, New Plans

‘Tis the season to be making some growth (moves). As the New Year draws closer and closer, we all gear up to make New Year’s resolutions and map out personal goals for the year. It’s always so hard to classify each goal by priority and time length. I personally struggle with finding the right length of time for each goal, and laying the groundwork for a long-term goal.

To start, this year I decided to take some time and reflect on the 2020/2021 cycle for myself. I thought long and hard and made a little list made up of things I’d like to accomplish, have accomplished, and things that are in-between. I feel as if I have fallen short, and need to start focusing on self-care in order to accomplish my goals. More specifically, my physical wellness goals.

Once upon a time, I had all the time in the world to take care of myself without a second thought. Due to stress and life changes, I haven’t found the time to do so. After some much-needed work, I decided to start getting rid of the things that were blocking my path to success. The only way for me to reach my goals is to get rid of stressful things and people and focus on things that make me happy.

Working out is one of the main ways I can feel great: mind, body, and soul. Plus, it helps me reach my long-term goal for myself. I realize (now) that I must start having a steady schedule from month to month so I can better reach my daily, monthly, and yearly goals.

I began looking for a way to better organize my plans, so I can (actually) make them happen. If you are anything like me, you spend way too much time on Pinterest, and follow all the creative people on social media. I came across something remarkably interesting.

Recently, I’ve noticed companies are making and selling planner books that are basically wide open and blank so you can decorate and make notes in the most creative way. My first “fun” planner book was by Erin Condren. Her planner came with all kinds of wonderful things such as stickers, reminder cards, and thank you notes. She has a wide variety of planners from teacher planners to planner books for an upcoming wedding.

There are many other wonderful planners that will not only help with organization, but could also spark creativity. I found that writing things down, and writing out my plans and goals, gives me time to think and add in notes on specific goals.

I am overall excited to start 2022 on a high note with setting personal goals to be more active and healthier. I’m also looking forward to a new planner to fill with my goals, thoughts, and blueprints for projects.

2022 should be the year we all make positive and healthy choices for yourselves and the ones we love. Setting small goals can be helpful. Be sure to make time for yourself, so you can achieve some of your goals, no matter how big or small!

Have a safe and wonderful New Year!

Anastassia is originally from North Carolina, born and raised in Fort Bragg. She is a military child turned spouse, so the Army has been a part of who she is for her entire life. She and her husband have been married for six years and have two boys (2 and 5 years old) and are currently stationed in Washington, Illinois (for now at least). She is hoping her next assignment will take her back down South next because she does not enjoy snow filled winters! She is a stay at home mom with a knack for Crocheting (she actually turned her hobby into a side job- how cool is that?) She also enjoys yoga, podcasts, reading, thrifting, and exploring cities and villages. Most of her exploring various places is food related as she loves trying new foods (and finding cool tea rooms) so she can broaden her pallet. Not to mention, you always meet the nicest people in restaurants and bakeries! Anastassia is a fun-loving person who is always ready at a moment's notice to enjoy life, have fun, and make new friends.

You are speaking my language, Anastassia! I started bullet journaling I think three or four years ago, decorating with fun stickers, creating my own design and it has changed the game for me as far as planning and executing my goals. I wish you the best as you CRUSH 2022!
