7 Ways to Make a Christmas to Remember

My goal this year is to make this holiday season a Christmas to remember.

Here are seven ways I plan to make that happen:

1. Elf on the Shelf

This is a new one for us! Lexie is now 3, and I think it is a perfect time for her to enjoy such a fun tradition. I have so many fun ideas to make this a wonderful treat for her every day in December.

2. Polar Express Train Ride

This is also a new one, and to be honest, I believe I’m way more excited about this than my kid. It is an actual train ride that has actors act out The Polar Express. How exciting! The train pulls into the North Pole, and Santa enters the train to give out silver bells. Better yet, it’s offered in multiple states. You can find the nearest location to you here.

3. Wreaths Across America

Participating in this honor and tradition will be the most emotional memory of the season. Lexie and I will help lay wreaths at the local national military cemetery. This is also the cemetery that Toby’s ashes are housed, so it will be an emotional day. I believe that it will be an honor and memory that will live on. This is also done nationally and you can find more information on their website.

4. Salvation Army’s Angel Tree

This is a yearly favorite. Having the opportunity to make someone else’s Christmas a little better is what the season is all about.

5. An Ornament for Lexie

Every year since Lexie was born, I buy her an ornament that has a special meaning. I attach a little note about why I chose that ornament and put it away in a keepsake box. My plan is to give her the box full of ornaments for her first tree at her own house.

6. Pajamas and Movie Box

To celebrate the start of the seven days until Christmas, I’m going to give Lexie a box with Christmas pajamas, a Christmas movie, popcorn, and treats. The plan is to enjoy a wonderful night of cuddling and movie watching.

7. Saint Nicholas Day

This is an oldie but goodie that I am bringing back. Growing up, my German grandmother would tell the story of St. Nicholas and we would celebrate Nikolaustag. On December 5, we would put out our shoes, and if we were good, St. Nicholas would fill our shoes with oranges, nuts, and yummy German chocolate. I have a feeling that this one will become a loved yearly tradition.

These are just a few ways that I am hoping to make this Christmas one to remember! I hope your Christmas is just as bright and memorable.
