Be “Extra” – Month of the Military Child 2022

Every year, I get “extra” jazzed about the month of April for many reasons.

The first is that we kick off the month with my favorite holiday, April Fool’s Day. On this day, I plot healthy pranks and jokes on loved ones not to mention that it’s one of my BFF’s birthdays (Happiest of Birthdays, beautiful Kat).

Then a day later, I get to celebrate my birthday all month long on April 2nd!!!

But, most importantly—April shines a global awareness on the sacrifices on our nation’s greatest heroes as we celebrate Month of the Military Child! I might go a little overboard when it comes to Month of the Military Child for several reasons. Reason one thru four are my own children.

The single culminating event that kick-started my passion to promote this special time of the year began with the birth of my first child. He is now 15 and with each passing year, I tend to act a little “extra” with organizing, planning and facilitating local, state, and national events within my power to make sure our military children feel honored and worthy of this glorious month of April!

ALL military children face unique challenges, anxieties, fears, and forced adjustments without any say-so and for that, I SALUTE MILITARY CHILDREN ACROSS THE WORLD!

We are blessed to live in a community that honors our military-connected children across the county and in our hometown by way of public Month of the Military Child Proclamations at City Council and County Council meetings presented by Chairman Burns and Mayor Drakeford.

Additionally, the local Hobkirk Hill Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will be hosting a program solely dedicated to military children while Downtown Camden businesses and throughout the city and county residents will shine purple lights for the “Purple Up” Lights of Hope Campaign during the month! High schools to pre-schools will be hosting their own celebrations with spirit weeks, lunches, and breakfast meals allowing an entire community to lift our military children.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to all supporters of this glorious month of April as you ensure military children feel your love and support to make sure their sacrifices do not go unnoticed.
