Step Back in Time: Jekyll Island

Do you ever long to take a step back in time? This was the feeling we experienced as we drove onto Jekyll Island, Georgia. From the moment we glimpsed the Jekyll Island Club and Historic District and the striking natural beauty of the island, I knew we had found a very special place. The more I learned of the history of Jekyll Island, the more I knew we were not alone in our discovery. Teeming with interesting history, this island’s colorful background made for an enchanting visit.

Building a Road Trip Survival Kit

As this post is going live, my husband and I will be getting ready to pack up our PODS trailer and head off on our first big PCS journey (and by big, I mean 400 miles, so really, not so big, but big enough to require some prep). We’re making things a little more entertaining for ourselves by choosing to do a partial PPM (Personally Procured Move), since we’re apparently gluttons for punishment and enjoy lugging boxes every year or so. My Whale Watching Adventure

My husband and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary last month. One of the greatest things about moving fairly frequently is that you get to go to new places and see things unique to the area. Washington has a spectacular coastline. The Pacific Ocean and the Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific) are full of some great things. I was able to visit Ocean Shores last year. It was nice to see the Pacific again.

Discovering Monterey, California

Monterey delighted us. This town of 29,000 people has the attractions and shopping of a city of 200,000. I came as a teenager with my family over 20 years ago and have always wanted to share the aquarium with my children. This visit we lounged at the Lover’s Point Inn (10% off with military ID http://www.loverspointinnpg.com/) with great rooms a two-minute walk from the beach – try the Mermaid Beach House if you want something extra special and have the space of a home.
