Find Support With Make the Connection

By Jessica Ryu

If you are a veteran, or family member of a veteran, facing challenges in your everyday life, you are not alone. There are millions of veterans and family members who have reached out for support during tough times. Their lives got better. Yours can too. There’s a resource just for you: MakeTheConnection.net is an online resource designed to connect veterans, their family members and friends, and other supporters with information, resources, and solutions to issues affecting their lives.

Whether they happen in an instant or over a long period of time, to ourselves or a loved one, changes in behavior can sometimes be hard to recognize. That’s one reason that veterans’ families or friends are often the first to notice when something isn’t quite right.

“Stand By a Veteran,” a new public service announcement from Make the Connection, encourages families and friends to pay attention to any big or small changes in behavior in the veterans they care about. Shifts in overall mood, drinking habits, lifestyle, or other behavior may signal a larger health concern.

Visit MakeTheConnection.net to find hundreds of inspiring stories of recovery from veterans and their loved ones. Learn how they found support and how you can, too.

Here are some stories from Make the Connection that highlight family support:

MakeTheConnection.net also has resources for active-duty members of the military, including information related to transitioning from service and preparing for deployment.

No matter what you may be experiencing, there is support for getting your life on a better track. Many, many veterans have found the strength to reach out and make the connection. Find the veteran resources most helpful for you.
