Honor and Remember with the 30 x 30 Challenge

There’s a lot going on in September. Labor Day. College football. The end of summer. Big headline stuff.

There are some other happenings in September that may not get headlines or TV coverage, but are still vitally important for our nation to keep in the front of their minds.

Sept. 11 is Patriot Day, a holiday observed in our country every year to commemorate the lives of those who died in the 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Virginia, and those who perished when the hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania.

Hope For The Warriors has a plan that will help you keep that day in 2001 in mind on the 20th anniversary of that day, to help you mark Patriot Day the entire month of September.

It’s the Patriot Day 30 x 30 Virtual Challenge. It’s easy. It doesn’t take much time. It helps you get healthier while remembering the fallen from that tragic September day in 2001.

The Patriot Day 30 x 30 Challenge is about 30 minutes of movement for 30 days in September.

All you have to do is commit to 30 days of any type of physical activity for a least 30 minutes each day. Any physical activity counts: walking, running, hiking, swimming, lifting—anything that gets you moving.

Hope For The Warriors will provide support via two emails per week with various focuses. Our key focus points will be mind/body/spirit connectivity/overall personal well-being. There will be a special Sept. 11 mindfulness practice which will be sent to all participants.

September is also National Suicide Prevention Month with Sept. 10 being World Suicide Prevention Day. During the 30 x 30 Virtual Challenge, we will also speak to HOPE’s mission to end the stigma around mental health as well as highlight the work that not only HOPE but our partners are doing to prevent suicide.

Participants are encouraged to register for the free 30-day fitness challenge before or by Aug. 31 (but they can join at any time), at hopeforthewarriors.org. Participants can log their daily activity through the registration website to maintain a cumulative total for the challenge.

For $30 a Patriot Day 30 x 30 Challenge T-shirt is available during registration (the T-shirt will arrive toward the end of the challenge). There is also an opportunity to sponsor a warrior for $30, allowing a service member or military family member to join the challenge with a T-shirt.

Hope For The Warriors

Founded in 2006, Hope For The Warriors is a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for post-9/11 veterans, service members, and military families. What began as post-combat bedside care and support has evolved to a national organization that has adapted to ongoing changes within the military community. The organization has stayed the course with our country’s post-9/11 veteran population as physical wounds healed, but emotional wounds still needed care. Since its inception, Hope For The Warriors has served over 23,200 through a variety of support programs focused on clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation, and transition. Such a great idea– I know several of our AWN team members are going to participate and I am signing up soon as well. Thanks for sharing this! Praying for our nation and all of our service members, spouses and families as we near the 20 year mark.
