Keep Going, Do Not Give Up

Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do. —Pele

I am struggling. Every day, I need to make an intentional decision to keep going. Being intentional with eating healthy (and not snacking on all the extra food that we have in the house), to exercise, and to stay positive. A couple weeks ago I really hit a low point where I was getting depressed and did not see a way out. Everywhere I turned, in the news, Facebook, etc. was COVID-19, and most of it was not positive.

On April 1, I was supposed to take my exam for my certification; I have been studying for it since December 2019. When the exam was cancelled and the exam site closed, I was close to crying. It was hard to see it as a blessing, an opportunity to continue to study, even though I have no idea when I can take my exam. Talking with both my life coach as well as my husband, I realized that real success does not happen overnight; that it takes daily discipline. My coach suggested to study just 15 minutes, every day, and to mark my progress on my calendar. Honestly, it has been working. Every day, I sett a timer for 15 minutes. Some days I study one hour, other days only 15 minutes, but at least I am moving forward working toward my goal of studying.

I want to encourage you to write down a goal that you would like to accomplish during this season of your life.

Is it to eat healthy or gain more muscle?

Is it to continue your degree or start a business that you always dream about?

Maybe it is just relaxing and enjoying this season and reading a book.

Whatever it is I want to challenge you to just do it. Do it for 15 or 30 minutes a day, whatever your goal is, and make it so that you can do it consistently every day. Give yourself permission and grace to do something for yourself.

I know it is hard to be stuck in the house with the kids, trying to figure out the online homeschooling and being a referee for your children when they fight. However, it is worth it to keep moving toward your goals and seeing your progress. Honestly, it motivates me to see the days on my calendar that I have crossed out, showing my progress toward preparing for my exam.

Keep going, do not give up, and you will come out of this season stronger than you entered it.
