USAA Returning $520 Million to its Members

USAA announced that it will be returning $520 million to its members. According to USAA, “This payment is a result of data showing members are driving less due to stay-at-home and shelter-in-place guidance across the country.” Auto insurance members will automatically receive a credit applied to their bill. USAA estimates that they will be giving about a 20% return on two months of payments per member.

AAFES Opens Mobile Field Exchange in New York City

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service opened a mobile field exchange in New York City. The 53-foot trailer is “stocked with emergency supplies, toiletries, snacks, and drinks,” according to AAFES. The mobile exchange was set up outside the Army’s field hospital at the Javits Center in New York City which is supporting the Covid-19 outbreak.

AAFES is also updating their website with real-time hours for Exchange patrons worldwide. Shoppers are encouraged to check the website out for their local Exchanges before shopping.

“Most Exchange locations remain open during the pandemic, but hours may be adjusted to allow for cleaning and restocking,” said the website.

Celebrate April: Month of the Military Child

Since 1986, April has been designated as the Month of the Military Child. This year is no exception. And I think that military kids might be the best poised to handle the ups and downs of the COVID-19 daily roller coaster. Although most of us are under stay-at-home orders, the Month of the Military Child marches onward, and we have some ideas to help you celebrate your MilKids.

Militarychild.org is celebrating through digital resources including a weekly podcast featuring stories of military kids. Militarychild.org also kicked off its 2020 Call for the Arts contest where military-connected children in Kindergarten through grade 12 are invited to submit entries in art, writing, poetry, or photography. One winner will be selected from three grade categories and awarded a $100 Amazon gift card. The deadline to submit artwork is June 1, 2020. Winners will be announced June 30.

AAFES is celebrating the Month of the Military Child with sweepstakes and contests!
