Purple Dandelion

Listen now, my little one, to this bedtime story.

I have so much I want to share, of all your little life’s glory.

The things you have experienced are quite impressive,

So, now I wish to provide you a comforting message.

P is the letter for my ode anew, Because, my military child, I am so PROUD of you.

U is the letter that comes next in line, I’m sorry I have UPROOTED you so many times.

R, a strong one, is now going to follow, For your RESILIENCY within all of life’s hollows.

P is the letter that again follows suit, Marking the adventurous PATHS you don’t always get to choose.

L is the letter that is never marred, Representing our LOVE that covers distances near and far,

E quietly completes this first word, Yet, our constant changes allow your EMOTIONS to be heard.

D is the letter beginning a new word that amazes, I see your DETERMINATION to succeed in all the new places.

A is the next letter that does not lack, The ADJUSTMENTS are so many, they are very hard to track.

N allows our story to go on, For NEW opportunities and friends of which we become quite fond.

D is the letter to sprout with a start, For a chance to fulfill all the DREAMS of your heart.

E is the letter coming along to sing, About your ability to fully EMBRACE all things.

L is one to hold a lot of power, Because you have LIVED a LOT of LIFE, my little flower.

I is the tall letter now to jot, Representing your IDENTITY in all the things you have sought.

O is the next letter found in all the highs and lows, Breaking forth your amazing OPTIMISM that inspires me so.

N now closes this final stanza of my poem, Demonstrating my NEVERENDING adoration of you no matter where you may ever roam.

All these letters and words are a marvelous description of you,

My PURPLE DANDELION, I hope you know it’s true!

Purple is the blend of the colors representing each military branch.

Dandelions can put down roots wherever they land.

Purple is the color of royalty and strength,

Dandelion flowers bloom and adapt at great lengths.

You radiate the essence of these pillars and more,

They represent how special you are, for much more is in store.

My wondrous military child, my brave, little sweet,

Lie your head down now and don’t make a peep.

Dream of the adventures we will take in the dawn,

And know we are on this journey together, and I’m cheering you on!
