Today on Army Wife Talk Radio we learn about dTMS – a cutting-edge treatment with the potential to transform the lives of soldiers and families. Sharita interviews Dr. Brian Earthman to learn more about Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) – a noninvasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to improve symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

Dr. Earthman, is a 12-year Army Reservist, a psychiatrist, and a board-certified addiction medicine specialist. His company, Katie’s Way, is the first company dedicated to focusing TMS treatment efforts solely on the military community. Because of its amazing success, they have also expanded to Fort Bliss and are hoping to offer this treatment to military communities throughout the country.

On today’s episode, Sharita and Dr. Earthman share details about this Tricare-approved, game-changing treatment. Dr. Earthman walks us through the studies that have an encouraging success rate for treating depression, anxiety, and PTSD. He shares what a treatment session for dTMS looks like from the patient perspective. Then he and Sharita talk about Katie’s Way and the future of offering dTMS to military members everywhere.

Marines Parade for a Cause in Hollywood

Hollywoo 90th annual Christmas Parade took place yesterday, December 4th, with 5,000 participants marching, including The Marine Corps Band. Actor Danny Trejo served as grand Marshall of the happy affair.

The parade started in 1928 and is used to bring attention to the marines toys for tots program and has become a much loved Hollywood tradition, only skipping years 1942-1944 due to WW2 and 2020 due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Female Navy Uniforms Get a Long Over Due Redo

This is no longer your grandma’s navy uniform! The Navy Exchange Service Command’s Navy Clothing & Textile Research Facility or (NCTRF) for short, gathered 100 female active duty Navy servicemembers to remeasure the decades-old standard uniform at Naval Air Station North Island, California.

“Over the past four years, we have been working with anthropometric data on current female body types/sizes and clothing industry experts to update the patterns to reflect an accuracy in the development of a new Navy fit type and sizing for women Sailors,” said Dr. Brianna Plummer, Supervisory Textile Technologist, Design & Testing Group told Navy.mil. “The ultimate goal of this effort is to update all uniform patterns to create better fit that require fewer alterations and resulting in the commonality of sizing across all uniform items.”

While it’s sometimes not a good idea to mess with the classics, in this case it is a welcome change for our navy servicewomen.  Learn more at navy.mil

After a recent PCS to Ft. Huachuca, she has become a Certified FASTERway to Fat Loss coach which is where her true passion lies. Many women are at a crossroads in life. We have followed our spouses across the country and globe and have often put our health and fitness on the back burner. We have encouraged them throughout their career and deployments while we take care of the house and kids but often not ourselves.” She is inspired to help coach other mil-spouses, like her, get on an earned path of improved energy and health with whole food nutrition, intermittent fasting and strategic workouts that can be done at home (or the gym).
