Military Families Navigate Career Changes, Homebuying, More with USO

For military spouses, life is often full of changes. Moving across the country and around the world. Adapting to new communities and career challenges. Parenting children while your service member is deployed. Fortunately, military spouses don’t have to navigate military life all on their own. As a military service nonprofit, the USO has supported service members and their families for more than 80 years.

Military spouses can count on the USO at every stage of their service member’s military career, whether they’re newly enlisted or near retirement. At USO Coffee Connections, military spouses can make new friends and reconnect with old ones. Hosted both in-person and online, these engaging events are a great way to network with other military spouses or get to know your new community after a recent PCS.

In addition to in-person services and events, the USO offers free online workshops for service members and military spouses. With these virtual engagements, members of the military community can learn valuable skills and tips about everything from employment to self-discovery, all from the comfort of home.

Military spouses are welcome to join the USO Pathfinder Transition Program workshop on July 27 at 1 p.m. eastern to learn the ins and outs of building a federal resume. Service members transitioning to civilian life are also encouraged to attend this informative webinar.

You will find out about the federal employment process from USO transition experts and Rudy Muriel, Human Resource Specialist/Recruiter for the Department of the Navy. The workshop will also discuss hiring preferences and ratings, how to read job announcements, and more. Register here to save your spot for this valuable opportunity.

Like finding a new career path, planning for your next home can be challenging, but you don’t have to tackle the problem all by yourself. With the experts at Guaranteed Rate, the USO is hosting a free one-hour workshop for members of the military community to learn how to navigate your VA home loan.
