A Year of Thanks: July

I am in the midst of PCSing! Woo hoo! (Who would have thought I would be so excited to head back to Fort Rucker, Alabama? After three years in Korea, they could have sent us anywhere not in Korea and I would have been thrilled.) Because I am PCSing, I thought I’d go a different route this month, and give thanks for 31 websites. Why am I thankful for them? Because who doesn’t like awesome stuff? I’m always thankful for awesomeness.

First, JanuaryFebruaryMarchAprilMay, and June.  And now?

Here’s my July:

1. Army Wife Network (the organization): Because, if not for AWN, I wouldn’t have met my sisters.

2. Post Secret: Reading secrets? Probably my favorite thing to do.

3. Army Wife Network (the website): Because I had never blogged before I decided to write here, and there was no looking back. I found the thing I love to do other than taking pictures.

4. All Women StalkIt’s just lists of awesome stuff. So. Many. Lists.

5. Where’s My Cell Phone: I am always, always losing my phone. Always.

6. BuzzFeed: Nothing says “time well spent” quite like finding out which Disney Princess or X-Men character I am. (P.S. Aurora and Rogue.)

7. All RecipesFooooooood.

8. Google: For oobviousvs reasons.

9. 10 Minute MailFor those times you need a throwaway email address, this site will enable you to get confirmation then self destruct in 10 minutes.

10. YouTube: Because not only can I keep all of my son’s videos in one place, I learned how to use Photoshop and Illustrator thanks to YouTube videos.

11. Printable PaperBecause I never have looseleaf paper.

12. Today I Found Out: Learning is good, right?

13. My Social BookIt’s just a really cool idea.

14. Amazon: You can buy just about anything on Amazon, from vanilla beans to vanilla body wash to vanilla candles.

15. Netflix: I would not have survived three years in Korea without Netflix or…

Giving thanks to Netflix.
Thank you, Netflix, for the recommendation.

16. Hulu

17. Pinterest: So, so many ideas; so, so little time.

18. Facebook: I don’t know that I’d be able to keep in touch with all the awesome people I’ve met in thanks to the military without Facebook.

19. The Part Time PhotographerI learned a lot about photography and the business itself thanks to this site.

20. Martha StewartSometimes I feel the need to challenge my lack of domesticity. Martha’s got recipes, crafting ideas… it’s bananas.

21. Bakerella: So. Much. Nom.

22. Cooking Light: More fooooooood.

23. Incredible ThingsEverything here really is incredible.

24. Etsy: I have bought some of the most beautiful handmade items through Etsy, including earrings, personalized wine charms, a customized rubber stamp… I love Etsy! (R.I.P. Regretsy.com)

25. Oh No They Didn’t!Because I care about celebrity gossip like any self-respecting American.

26. Mama’s Losin’ ItI go to this site mostly for writing prompts, but she’s got a great blog and also vlogs!

27. Fat Mum Slim: Her photo-a-day challenge is awesome!

28. Twitter: It makes stalking my favorite celebrities way, way easier, but not less creepy, unfortunately. (TARAN KILLAM, I LOVE YOU.)

29. PapyrusNothing beats actually shopping at a Papyrus store, but if you can’t get to one, this is a close second.

30. DaFontI make a lot of graphics and I like to use a lot of different fonts. Hooray for free fonts!

31. Emily Grace: Because it’s me!

Army Wife Network is blessed with many military spouses who share their journey through writing in our Experience blog category. As we PCS in our military journey, bloggers too sometimes move on. Their content and contributions are still valued and resourceful. Those posts are reassigned under "Retired Bloggers" in order to allow them to remain available as content for our AWN fans.
